 In Blog

MMOG/LE Requirement 3.2.3 version 6.0 states that the organization’s capacity planning process has the capability to ensure that the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) requirements are available in a timely manner to support customer requirements.

The Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) is an automotive process outlining requirements for approval of production parts. Its purpose is to measure whether a supplier can, with regularity, fulfill these requirements. PPAP is listed in the OEM Customer Specific Requirements for:

  • Ford Motor Company
  • General Motors
  • Stellantis

In addition, PPAP is identified as a requirement of many of the tiered suppliers’ guidelines.

How Does AIM Help Automotive Suppliers Meet This Requirement?

Our only customer is the automotive production part supplier, and as such we developed AIM Vision to meet your business software needs. When it comes to the Production Part Approval Process there are a several key features that help your success.

First, from a scheduling perspective, parts can be marked as Pilot Part to help with planning PPAP requirements.

Second, utilizing AIM Vision system flags for ordering and scheduling help to ensure continuity of supply of the current part.

Third, on a blanket order item level parts can be identified as PPAP Required to help with meeting shipping compliances for PPAP parts, whether it’s in process, has interim or full PPAP approval or has been PPAP rejected.

MMOG / LE Requirement 3.2.3.1 – Planning PPAP Requirements

Mark inventory end items as a Pilot Part to allow PPAP requirements to be incorporated into the Material Requirements Planning and Capacity Planning Process. MRP can be generated specifically for Pilot / PPAP parts; during this process, MRP only considers raw material / assemblies that are related to the specified pilot parts.
